Many of the schools were located in heavily forested areas, requiring a hike through thick vegetation. Professor Joao Matos mentions that “The Leica GS50 performed particularly well in forested areas, and allowed for fast acquisition of schools. Without GPS/GIS the project would not have been feasible.”
