Bombardier Aerospace

Laser Tracker for the "Global Express"(英語)
With more than 58000 employees in five continents and revenues of more than 16 billions CA$, Bombardier is a major international company. Although their extensive product line includes snowmobiles, speedboats and fast-train transit systems Bombardier is best known for their aerospace division.
As the world’s third largest aircraft manufacturer, Bombardier Aerospace produces regional and amphibious aircraft as well as business and regional jets, among them the world’s fastest corporate aircraft – the «Global Express».

Manufacturing such world-class products requires superior technology – precisely why Bombardier chose Leica laser trackers. Within the last eighteen months Bombardier has rented two trackers and purchased an additional ten systems. This translates to an investment of more than 2 million US$.

Leica laser trackers are employed in various areas of Bombardier’s Aerospace division. With accuracy to 25 microns, Leica laser trackers are used to build, install and inspect jigs.

Other applications are parts inspection and reverse engineering. The dynamic measurement mode is very suitable for fixtures building. Over 90 operators use the laser trackers, 24 hours a day in three shifts. With the help of Leica laser trackers, Bombardier was able to achieve significantly greater efficiency and a remarkable reduction  of  time and manpower.
Bombardier Aerospace is convinced that Leica laser tracker training is easier than other metrology measurement systems.

The durability of Leica laser trackers ensures the delivery of consistent and repeatable measurement results.
