Machining Systems

Lamb Technicon(英語)
Specialist machine tools manufacturer uses Leica’s state-of-the-art laser tracker system to guarantee precision of own products. Lamb Technicon Machining Systems, a world leader in the design and production of specialist machine tools, does not believe in cutting any corners when it comes to customer service – and it insists on an equally perfectionist approach from its own suppliers.
That uncompromising attitude goes a long way to explain the US-based company’s lengthy supply-chain partnership with Swiss-based Leica Geosystems, whose state-of-the-art precision measurement tools it has now been using for the best part of two decades to ensure the quality and precision of its own products. The US-based company’s Mildenhall manufacturing site in the UK has been a Leica customer for the past 15 years, and has for some time been the proud owner of two Leica ECDS theodolite systems. In September 2000, Mildenhall management made its latest major purchase from the Metrology Division of Leica Geosystems – the state-of-the-art LTD500 laser tracker system.

Once again, the investment has paid off in every way – project leaders at Mildenhall say the new system has helped the company to save both time and money, while considerably improving quality standards. The tracker-based manufacturing process requires very little specialised tooling and can be used on any project – compared to traditional techniques, which require specialised and expensive master parts for each project.
